A, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is a natural polymer material as raw material, through a series of chemical processing and produced non-ionic cellulose ether.

It contains almost all the properties of methyl cellulose (MC) and is your additive to producing quality building materials. In order to meet the needs of green environmental protection, our factory specially developed and produced Qianrun brand products for the building materials industry, with high water-retaining performance, good dispersion, good fineness, good workability, convenient dissolution and other characteristics: suitable for dry sand slurry building materials, internal and external wall water resistant putty powder (paste), binder, sealant, interface agent, water-based paint, self-leveling agent and other new building materials. Cellulose ether is an indispensable additive in the production of building materials. After adding HPMC, the following performance can be improved:

1, water retention - enhance water retention, improve cement, gypsum building materials too fast drying and hydration caused by poor hardening, cracking and other phenomena.

2, operational - increase the mortar plasticity, improve the construction of industrial coating, improve work efficiency;

3, cohesiveness - due to the improvement of mortar plasticity, so that it can better bond the substrate and be bonded;

4. Anti-slip - because of its thickening effect, it can prevent the occurrence of slippage of mortar and bonded objects during construction.

Iv. Physical and Chemical properties

1, appearance: HPMC is white or white fiber granular powder, odorless.

2, soluble: HPMC in anhydrous ethanol, ether, acetone almost insoluble, dissolved in cold water into a clear or slightly turbid glue. HPMC can be dissolved in some organic solvents, also can be dissolved in water - organic solvent mixture.

3, granularity: 100 mesh pass rate ≥98.5%, 80 mesh pass rate 100%.

4, apparent density: 0.30-0.70g/cm3, density 1.26-1.31g/cm3.

V. Product features:

1, salt resistance: HPMC non-ionic cellulose ether, and is not a polyelectrolyte, so in the presence of metal salt or organic electrolyte, relatively stable in aqueous solution, but excessive addition of electrolyte, can cause gel or precipitation.

2, surface activity: HPMC aqueous solution has surface active function, can be used as a colloidal protective agent, emulsifier and dispersant.

3, hot gel: HPMC aqueous solution when heated to a certain temperature, become opaque, gel, formation of precipitation, but in continuous cooling, and return to the original solution state, and the temperature of the occurrence of this gel and precipitation mainly depends on their type, concentration and heat rate.

4. Ph-stability: The viscosity of HPMC aqueous solution is almost unaffected by acid or base, and the PH value is relatively stable in the range of 3.0-11.0.

5, water retention: HPMC is a kind of efficient water retention agent, has a wide range of applications in ceramics, building materials and many other aspects.

6, adhesion: HPMC as a kind of high-tech binder, used in pigment, paper, tobacco products and ceramic products.

Vi. Dissolution Method:

1, hot water method: add the required amount of 1/3 or 2/3 of the water in the container, and heat to more than 80℃, because HPMC does not dissolve in hot water. Thus early HPMC can be evenly dispersed in hot water, and then add the remaining amount of cold water or ice water to the hot water slurry, stirring after cooling the mixture.

2, powder mixing method: HPMC powder and equal or more large amounts of other powder ingredients, through dry mixing to fully disperse, after adding water to dissolve, HPMC can dissolve at this time, and not condense.

3, organic solvent wetting method: HPMC with organic solvent, such as ethanol, ethylene glycol or oil in advance dispersion or wetting, and then add water to dissolve, HPMC can also be smoothly dissolved at this time.

Note: After surface treatment of HPMC can be wet with cold water, such as ammonia or alkali water PH to 8-10 can form viscosity.

Vii. Main Uses:

HPMC can be used as thickening agent, dispersant, emulsifier and film forming agent. Its industrial grade products can be used in daily chemical industry, synthetic resin, construction and paint.

1. Suspension polymerization:

In the production of synthetic resins, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinylidene chloride and other copolymers, suspension polymerization is most commonly used and is required to stabilize hydrophobic units suspended in water. HPMC products as water-soluble polymer has excellent surface activity, and plays the role of colloidal protective agent, it can effectively prevent the polymerization of polymerization particles. Furthermore, HPMC, although a water-soluble polymer, is slightly soluble in hydrophobic units and increases unit porosity in the production of polymerized particles, and it provides the polymer with an excellent ability to remove residual units and improve the absorption of plasticizers.
